The chandelier is beautiful and replaces a 40 year old fixture. The brushed nickel hides all the fingerprints and the understated modern design doesn't overtake the dining room.Putting this together is relatively easy but you should know what you are doing. Note how long you would want to hang this from the ceiling. Take out all the parts, determine the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the unit to adjust the chain, cut the wires giving about 8"+ extra length (can trim later), and put it together with the mount before the final mount to the ceiling. This would mean that the wires need to go through the center mounting holder. Since the instructions focuses on wiring, there are no further instructions. By putting this together before mounting would save you time. This will give you an idea of what you need to do for the final mounting. Follow the wiring instructions. Hint: note and mark the ribbed wire before installing.The thick glass shade is secured by taking off the ring around the socket (which is ceramic), putting the shade on the socket and install the ring back. I'm using LED indoor 40w equivalent with a dimmer switch. When this needs to be cleaned, the bulb and the shade can be easily removed for cleaning.Two things are a surprised: this has the Westinghouse label which is used for name only, but I'm hopeful that Westinghouse considered the quality of the fixture before slapping their name on it; and this 3-light unit was a lot less money than other 3-light units. I'm glad I saw this unit since it has an elegant and simple design. I'm getting the 5 chandelier fixture for the dining room. By the way, this review will be the same for the 5-light unit.
