I've used this book for several major papers I've written and I value the statements that Ruth makes as she progresses. However, this book is not an unbiased view of feminist spirituality. This book is a woman's personal journey and her reflections on the choices she made through that journey. She talks a great deal on how the patriarchal religions were flawed and how they should be abandoned for "better" religions based on goddess worship. This was an excellent assessment and she provides a great deal of food for thought. However, I think this puts a great number of women at a disadvantage if they want to find love, togetherness, and some degree of salvation in thier traditional patriarchal religions. The title seems to to indicate a more broadly-reaching thesis, and this is the only reason I'm giving it anything less than four or five stars.It's a fascinating read, though, and I think it's a useful book for women of every denomination to read. Whether it inspires a woman to turn to "alternative" spirituality or whether it inspires her to believe more strongly in her faith, Ruth brings up wonderful topics for thought and discission.
