I am happy with the product. It was easy to assemble and start using. The grow lamp works as expected. The plants in the photo are citrus. My major complaint is that the manufacturer does not know how to package a simple lamp assembly and light bulbs. My first lamp arrived from UPS in a box that looked like an accordion. UPS had probably been rough with it, or heavy product parts shifting may have caused it to get away in handling. When I opened the shipping box, I noticed it was boxed using a substandard tape, much of which was about ready to let go. Once open, I realized the transformer and fixture are heavy. The reflector is a light weight metal sheet. Two bulbs were in boxes, one with a bubble wrap sleeve. There was a lot of space in the box and the heavy parts were free to shift 5"-6". The reflector had accordion pleats to match the box; the white metal fixture was bent and popped apart; the bulb boxes had suffered... (I did not open them to check the bulbs.) The heaviest part, the transformer, was not restrained by packaging. I returned my first lamp. I used a couple of empty 1 doz egg cartons to fill the voids that allowed the damage. The replacement lamp showed up with much less damage, just a minor bend one reflector corner. The lamp packaging would be much better if a couple of egg cartons or rectangular closed cell foam pieces were used to fill the voids. Without that, the very heavy transformer has a high chance of trashing the other items. I wonder how many units are returned as a result of shipping damage.I have been using it for three weeks. I am running it daily early morning to supplement winter short day length. As a grow lamp.... it works well... It is a semi commercial lamp and has great output. So far appears to use about $1 a day for 3.5 hours running at 50% output - 500W. At 750W or 1000W the bulb may run a bit more efficiently.Im going to keep this short. The box was delivered by the Amazon man himself. I lifted the box up, right there and then I knew something was wrong. I open it up and it was a large bag of dog food. Thankful that Amazon has great service, and I was able to enjoy the lights I purchased. Great buy forsure.my first system came with a bad ballast (selector dial was broke), i sent everything back and got a replacement. the second ballast was bad, i tried 2 different bulbs and both would flicker for a min then turn off. i borrowed a friends ballast and the light worked fine so i sent it back for a refund because amazon won't do a second exchange. because of the price i ordered one more, the 3rd one everything worked as intended. it's great value for the money if you can get one that works the first time.just remembera decent HPS bulb $65+a decent MH bulb $60+a decent ballast $100+a decent hood $100+a 15amp timer $8a minimum of $333 for $222. It's lower quality stuff but again, beginner growers a good buy if you can get a set that works right out of the box.Maybe some kid packed this without supervision. The bulbs looked ok, but were also broke, so some shipping issues also. There were loose wing screws all in the box. I think one got inside the ballast and it caused it to burn up in .5 seconds, and trip the breaker, that's a short in some place? The screws should have been packed in a plastic bag by themselves not all jumbled around like some meth head with Add packed it?Luckily no ballast issues. For the money it's a good value. 1 week in the included timer failed and stuck on for a day...luckily in vegIt was easy to hang. Works goodSo i i purchased this light despite he mixed reviews ive seen on his product and since the first day he light was fired up and ran it seemed to be malfunctioning and glitching/ flickering sporadically. I had it on a dedicated 200 amp breaker by itself and today when i went to watch the initial turn on of the light it came on for about 3 seconds and flicked off and i immediately smelled a burning smell and a small amount of smoke coming from the vent on he ballast. I unplugged everything in fear using his product again without risk of a fire. I am very disappointed because the price of this light is nice and i had planned on purchasing several more if this one worked out fine but now thinking i should try a a more reputable brand. I don't usually leave bad reviews but un sure of how to contact there customer service dept. if they are able to contact me and make this situation rite somehow i would consider changes the 1 star rating.This product did not come with the power cord shown in photos. Only thing that can be improved is due to the temperature given off by the light bulb, the plastic that lines the metal reflector has bubbled and lifted off the reflector in several spots. My Cattleya seedlings are loving the light and thriving. I live in rainy Vancouver BC so the light helps to lift my mood too.Comes with hanging hardware and everything you need to really just plug n play. Works great, quiet and affordable. Get the vented hood version if heat is a concern, but this is a great light!Great light!! Definitely worth the money, every dollar !! Throws off lots of heat and lightgreat light, but now the price is nearly triple what I paid when I went back to order more. sure.
