I've tried several stands (all made in China), but this one was well-designed and used quality materials. I usually hang on to boxes in case I want to send something back, but I was happy enough with these stands after I built them to recycle the boxes. There is a generous selection of options (carpet spikes, hardwood floor discs, cable ties, two sizes of speaker platforms, etc). The smaller platforms fit my Klipsch 500s perfectly.A few tips on building:- figure out which way you want to orient the column (logo facing out or hidden behind, black side to the front, wood side to the front, etc), the stand bottom, and the stand top ... before you screw things together. If you want to change later, its easy.- the screw holes are somewhat hidden under a vinyl overlay, so press with your finger to find their location.- use a screwdriver rather than a drill because MDF is soft and can be stripped if you use an aggressive power tool- the screw hole on the bottom platform is indented at about 1/2 the thickness of the platform, so push the screw in as you screw it on the column. Hand tighten, but don't over-tighten with MDF!- if you want to weight the column, you can use decorative rocks, marbles, etc. If you use sand, seal the bottom inside of the column with caulk to prevent potential leakage
