This light fixture is beautiful! It was the perfect addition to my daughter's bedroom remodel. I had read previous reviews about the tedious assembly so I was already aware of what I was getting myself into. As long as you understand that the assembly will take 2-3 hours (not including the time to hang the light) and you have some patience then you will be fine.Tips:1.) Wear bandaids on the tips of your fingers to prevent blisters when screwing the hundreds of gold rods into the gold base. I would also recommend wearing a vinyl surgical glove over that hand as well. Both of these things completely helped avoid blisters on my fingers.2.) Pour a bit of oil lubricant on a dry dish sponge. Any kind will due. I used a 3 in 1 oil lubricant that lubricates and prevents rust. Spin the threaded part of the gold rod in the oil to mildly lubricate the threads. This really helps when screwing it into the gold base.3.) I placed a blanket on my lap and sat the gold base on it and began inserting the rods into the base one by one. Put on a good movie. You should be finished by the end of the movie :)4.) The diagram/drawing that they give you is HORRIBLE. It took me a while to figure out what they were trying to tell me to do. Here it is:a.) The gold base sphere is divided into two parts (a top and a bottom). Each part has 5 rows. When inserting the rods into the holes, the pattern will mirror itself. Row 1 is the smallest row at the top. Row 5 is the longest row in the center of the sphere. When you finish the pattern for the top 5 rows, you will then flip the base over in your lap and do the exact same pattern again on the bottom section with Row 1 being the smallest row at the top again.b.) Pattern:Row 1: All short rodsRow 2: All short rodsRow 3: Lightbulb, Short, Long, Short, Long, Short, Lightbulb, Short, Long, Short, Long, Short, Lightbulb,......follow this pattern all the way around Row 3 (There should be short rods on both sides of the lightbulbs)Row 4: All long rodsRow 5: All long rodsThere is NO on/off switch on this light. It must be hardwired into the ceiling and a light switch must be used to turn it on/off. We added a dimmer switch because we knew that it would be a very bright light. The dimmer switch makes it much more functional. My daughter turns it on the dimmest setting to provide soft glow as a night light and uses the full brightness when she really wants her room bright. And yes, it brightens up her room beautifully!
